Project 1 Zine

Updated: Sep 24, 2021

Sometimes you meet the right person and they make life so much more colorful and vibrant, other times you meet someone that brings nothing but darkness and shades of gray, sometimes... that person is both. I wanted to tell a story, a story close to my heart, about someone that I met during Covid, someone that brought light and color into my life during a difficult time (it was Covid everyone was having a difficult time), and someone that took it all away in an instant. I really wanted to play on the theme of color. The first, fifth, and final picture really played into that theme. The first had little color but a light emitting out. The next few pictures were full of color, I wanted it to be overloaded with it. Once you hit the fifth image however the loss of color begins. The character is loosing color to the knife in the back wound, hence the reason for blood being multiple colors. The next few images are all very dark, color, life, happiness was lost. The final image however is a stark contrast to the first with mostly color and a little darkness, signifying a way out. I also wanted to ensure that the person observing my zine could feel as if it was them. None of the photos or pictures were of me and her, and I specifically made sure to not put faces. I wanted the observer to put themselves in my shoes.
